Removal of genital warts with a laser

Condylomas are benign neoplasms that affect the skin and mucous membranes of a person. The growths have a pink or flesh color, rarely appear one at a time, most often they are grouped in several pieces. Condylomas are the body's response to papillomavirus. Neoplasms are often localized on the genitals, resulting in a number of uncomfortable sensations.

Modern medicine offers several methods for removing growths, but one of the safest and most effective is laser removal. However, it is important to understand that removal of genital warts is not an indicator of recovery, since the papilloma virus still remains in the cells, and with a decrease in immunity, relapse can occur. For this reason, in parallel with the removal, immunostimulating and antiviral therapy is also carried out.

Statistics: Over the past year, papilloma virus was detected in varying degrees of manifestation in 7 out of 10 patients. The virus exists calmly and asymptomatically in the body until a sharp decrease in immunity is noted. The growths deprive a person of a full and happy life, as discomfort and complexes appear. The first sign of the presence of the virus in the body is the formation on the skin and mucous membranes of papillomas, genital warts and warts. If you do not treat single condylomas, then over time their number will increase.

Why condylomas need to be removed

The aesthetic moment, of course, is important, but the removal of genital warts must be taken seriously, since they can turn from benign to malignant. Condylomatosis of the anogenital region causes a number of uncomfortable sensations: severe itching; burning sensation; a high percentage of probability of injury with subsequent severe bleeding, as a result, infection of the damaged area may appear; large condylomas can ooz, smell unpleasant, cause inflammation and irritation; from condylomas a malignant formation can result.

There are cases when formations disappear on their own, without extraneous surgical or drug intervention. But it is important to understand that only small formations that are visualized on the skin and mucous membranes for no more than 3 months are capable of self-elimination.

Contraindications to the removal of genital warts

During the period of contacting the doctor, he carefully studies the growths and individually selects a methodology for eliminating such a disease as condylomatosis. The doctor takes into account the localization, degree of damage, size and contraindications.

Among the contraindications are worth noting:

  • the presence of malignant tumors in the body;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • endocrine dysfunction;
  • photodermatosis;
  • epilepsy;
  • thrombocytopenia;
  • fever;
  • hypertension;
  • the presence of herpes infection;
  • inflammatory processes on the skin;
  • diabetes.

If the growth exceeds a size of 6 millimeters, laser surgery is not recommended, in this case, electrocoagulation or surgical section is used.

If there are no contraindications, laser destruction can be carried out even for children.

Procedure Algorithm

Removal of genital warts with a laser is one of the safest and most effective procedures. Before surgery, the doctor checks the growth at the time of benignity, a biopsy is prescribed for this. After obtaining the results of histology, blood tests are prescribed in order to determine the pathogen and choose a comprehensive and effective drug treatment. Only after all these manipulations and in the absence of contraindications does the patient begin to prepare for laser surgery.

The area before laser therapy is anesthetized and disinfected. The doctor sets the power, depth of exposure and beam diameter to the apparatus. The whole procedure takes an average of 40 minutes, it all depends on the number and size of formations.

In order to remove genital warts, 2 procedures are needed. The second procedure is carried out at least 14 days later.

After removal, wounds form that must be carefully treated. The skin will recover within about 14-20 days.

Recovery period

In order to avoid any complications after the procedure, it is strictly forbidden to wet the wounds during the day. After the formation of crusts on the wounds, do not moisten, do not peel off, the scab disappears naturally - its mechanical elimination can provoke infection with further complications.

The skin is regularly treated with antiseptics, in addition, the doctor prescribes antibiotic and immunomodulating therapy.

All medications should be prescribed by the doctor, and the patient strictly adheres to these recommendations and appointments.

Additional recommendations: refusal from depilation of the treated area, from saunas, intimate relationships (if warts were removed from the genitals), avoid ultraviolet rays and hypothermia. It is important to follow all recommendations for at least one month, after which you need to see a doctor for control.

In the event that the patient has noticed redness, inflammation, pain, itching, tingling, purulent formations, bleeding or other signs, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Benefits of Laser Condyloma Removal

Among the advantages of laser surgery, it is worth noting: a short recovery period; minimal risk of relapse; lack of age restrictions; lack of tissue scarring; bloodless procedure; the beam affects only infected areas, healthy tissues are not damaged.

Disadvantages of laser destruction

Among the disadvantages, it is worth noting the high cost of the procedure, as well as in some cases the occurrence of side effects, such as redness, burns, skin pigmentation, fever, allergic reaction, swelling. Keloid scars may appear in patients with a disturbed hormonal background. But all the symptoms of a negative nature usually disappear on the first day.

For successful disposal of genital warts, three factors are important: an experienced doctor, lack of contraindications and compliance with recommendations for recovery. Be healthy!
